Meal delivery services
If you sometimes forget mealtimes, find it difficult to cook, or can’t easily get to the shops, there are several services across Australia that can help you stay well-nourished and independent.
Meals on Wheels operates nationally through more than 590 local services. They provide fresh, tasty and nutritious meals that meet the National Meal Guidelines for older Australians. Meals can be delivered to your home as required by friendly volunteers, and menus usually offer a wide variety of choices, including options for special dietary needs. To find your local Meals on Wheels service anywhere in Australia, visit the national directory: https://mealsonwheels.org.au/get-support/find-your-local-service/
Alongside Meals on Wheels, there are other prepared-meal delivery services that operate nationally and can support you to maintain good nutrition at home. Options include:
- Home Chef – ready-made meals delivered to your door, catering to a range of tastes and dietary requirements.
- Lite n’ Easy – healthy, portion-controlled meals designed to support wellbeing and ease daily meal preparation.
- Youfoodz, HelloFresh and similar providers – offering meal kits or ready-made meals that can reduce the effort needed for meal planning and shopping.
(A mix of meal types is available—some fully prepared, others partially prepared. You can choose what suits your ability and preferences.)
The Australian Government also works with major supermarkets, such as Coles and Woolworths, to provide priority access to online and telephone grocery shopping for older and vulnerable people. If you are registered with My Aged Care, you can use your My Aged Care ID when ordering to access priority delivery times.
If shopping online or by phone is difficult, and you need assistance with grocery shopping or meal support, you can register with My Aged Care, call 1800 200 422 (freecall) or visit Helping you navigate aged care, every step of the way | My Aged Care
