Help and advice with your drinking
The Australian alcohol guidelines were updated in 2020 by the National Health and Medical Research Council to reflect the most current scientific evidence and to inform Australians of the health risks associated with drinking alcohol.
To reduce the risk of harm from alcohol-related disease or injury, healthy men and women should drink no more than 10 standard drinks a week and no more than 4 standard drinks on any one day. A standard drink is any drink containing 10 grams of alcohol, regardless of container size or alcohol type (e.g beer, wine, spirit). For example, one standard drink is the equivalent to 1 glass of wine (100ml, 13% alc/vol), 1 pot/middy size of full-strength beer (285ml, 4.9% alc/vol) or 30ml of spirits (40% alc/vol).
The less you drink, the lower your risk of harm.
